This post is quite obviously going by the title a little bit of a wrist slap for all you people who think that old tired and ‘Black Hat’ SEO and marketing methods are going to miraculously put your tiny site on the “first page of Google” which seems to be some hackneyed ideal that every one is still searching for.

Facebook ‘Like’ Pages or Fan Pages as they used to be called are Facebooks answer to business profiles and they are created to represent a business, an identity or brand.

I personally asked Matt Cutts (yes he answered me!) on Twitter the other day if anyone could really, honestly promise you first page of Google for your keywords, his answer was an unequivacle, “No! no-one can. The newer algorithms are changed almost daily and semantic search is becoming more relevent by the minute.”
