Hi Robin - There are of course different thoughts and different ways of approaching this, and I can answer one of your questions right up front - no there is no real industry standard :) Facebook is still developing this area and it is still "subject to change without notice" :)

However if we look at what we do know: first do some split testing to see which headlines and images work best once you know that you can cut your spending a lot, and don't forget to keep testing - the trends are fickle what worked this week will not necessarily work next.

Now there is also a Firefox plugin that can help you with your split testing and submission etc.. called FB Ads Manager, I personally have not invested in it, but I know people who have and who swear by it.

and here are a couple of other links for you:

annie:
when using facebook ads, is there a way to judge your return? is there an industry standard for how much a fan should cost based on facebook ads?

Hi Annie
A very timely post for me as I am just setting up a facebook fan page for my Wife's artwork.
Great points about providing valuable content and interacting.
I will have to import my blog to mine as well!!!
Thanks again
Cheers Adam
