I am certain that we all have a favorite place from our childhood, someplace that reminds us of some fun adventure and easier days. I know I do and I had only been there the once, about 30 years ago.

So when Kerry, a friend of mine asked me to come up and shoot some video of his holiday rental homes I jumped at it.

It has miles and miles of white sandy beaches, stunning rain forrests and freshwater lakes which contain some of the purest water on the planet. Filtered through some of the finest whitest sand you will find anywhere, Fraser Island lakes are truly a delight to swim in. They are also very safe, with their long shallow edges of crystal clear freshwater, the lakes on Fraser Island are, ideal for children of any age or grown ups who can't swim but like to splash around.

And if you talk nicely to the locals, or my friend on the island, they might just direct you you to the places that the locals go. Just slightly off the track, and not so well known by the tourists you can arrive at pristine lake Picabeen in the afternoon and be the only people around for miles.

Fraser Island is a magical place, with less than 0.2 precent of the island to ever be developed it is one of the last wilderness places in easy reach of civilisation.
